Power FM is a young radio station based in Accra Ghana. It stands out as a sports station but majors in three kinds of content; inspirational programs, news, and sports. It is mainly aired in English and its demeanor is young and hip.
Power FM came into the limelight in the year 2014 when the station morphed into an urban onslaught targeted to turn heads in mainstream radio. The station is owned by Ghana’s former Finance Minister – Kwabena Duffour who is involved in other businesses such as The Heritage Newspaper, Unibank and Star Assurance.
Power 103.5 FM also Known as Star FM has an interesting array of programs for its listeners. As the young crowd would put it; it does not bore them with long news sessions and talk shows on political matters. Their slogan is ‘the innovators’ that is represented in their program line up. Power FM stirs your morning with Sports in the Morning with Chris; an odd observation taking that most radio stations are obsessed with news and talk shows at the time. As if that is not enough uniqueness, Power FM blows your mind with Djmassive's hip-hop session. It is followed by an International sports update with Dennis Mirpuri and ends with a local sports update hosted by Henry Asante. The station has its main Dj known as Mono.
Power FM poached most of its iconic presenters from JOY FM such as Nii Ayi Tagoe, Kweku Obeng Adjei. These are big names in Ghana’s media industry. Kafui Dey, the host for the Who Wants to Be Rich show was also involved at the beginning of the station.
